Submission History - View Latest Submission

24th November 2006

Your personal submission history now allows you to view today's submission (be it the Daily or the Weekly Extreme). This does not reveal any information about whether it is correct or not - it shows the clues (where present, in black) and your own solution numbers (in blue). If there is an error the normal "View Error" link will be available the next day.

The new submission system has been rolled out to the Extreme Sudoku and Jigsaw puzzles.

New Daily Sudoku Submission Method

12th November 2006

From today we are trialing a new submission system. This is just on the Daily Sudoku (we're too chicken to roll it out to all puzzles). The original graphic sudoku puzzle - which was just a bit of static HTML, is now a form where you can type in the numbers into each cell. You can tab (and tab over the clues). When you have completed filling in the solution you can submit - the other fields are as before. Since the clues are pre-filled in the 'clue check failure' should only arise if you miss the deadline.

For many people used to the old system, or prefering it, there is a blue "Import My Solution" button which pops up a small window. Enter your 81 digits there and this will fill in the main sudoku form automatically.

I'd be very grateful for any reviews and reports - especially in minority browsers. This has been tested in IE and Firefox. If this is successful it will be rolled out to the other submission forms.

I've opened a thread in the forum on this topic

Passwords on Personal Submission History

31st October 2006

We have added a password option to all account profiles. If you want to ensure only you have access to your profile and submission history then enter a password in the first form on the profile page.

You will notice that all the login forms in the side menu now contain a password field. If you have not given yourself a password you can leave this blank to login.

You can remove your password by putting a blank entry or change your password simply by overwriting whatever is in there.

New Daily Sudoku on Your Phone read »

13th October 2006

We are very pleased to announce the release of the Daily Sudoku on 3G Cell phones and PDAs. If you are away and can't reach a computer, you can now solve and submit a solution on your phone. This includes the ability to save your game part way through and re-load it again later. The sudoku looks like a printable version but you can actually type a number into the cells (in case you didn't spot this).

Your phone needs to have 320x240 screen and a web browser. No java apps or downloading required. In your Cell phone browser type "sudoku.org.uk/3g". You can also try the same mini-site on a normal computer.

Please report any bugs or oddities. When we've ironed out any problems we will release the Jigsaw, Killer and Extremes as well. Please use the Feedback form for all reports and suggestions. Note: currently to submit you need to be an existing submitter.

Meaning of 'Special Credit' in Personal History

21 September 2006

On the 20th submissions were closed for the day so I could update the site and the database with the new Account based system. I thought it fair to put a credit it for everyone with a history. It also allowed me to continue using the normal 300 day totaling. Much easier than explaining a 301 counting period. I think there is hardly anyone who's gained a +1 from a missed submission 300 days ago, so it should be fair.

The few people who submitted on the 20th were testers. All of those were deleted before I put the credit line in for each account.

Web Site Announcements

13th October 2006

We have decided to create a new page for web site announcements since there are always many change and enhancements, and such notices have always been scattered around the site or in the forum. Here we can be expansive and you can catch up with changes in one place.
